HOMER'S HOMEPAGE

Homer spends his days at Haymarket Park when the Saltdogs are in town, but he doesn't just hide in his doghouse in the offseason, or when the team is on the road.  You'll find Homer popping up all over Lincoln, entertaining his fans all year round.

Right now, Homer has a bad case of what his dad calls "cabin fever."  In other words, he's tired of winter, and now that the snow has melted off of Haymarket Park's brand-new field, Homer can't stop dreaming about the next time the Saltdogs play ball.  In the meantime, Homer's staying busy with his appearance schedule, because nothing livens up an event quite like a special appearance by everyone's favorite baseball-loving dog.

Homer says: "I love Haymarket Park, but I also love getting out and meeting everyone!  Birthday parties are my speciality, but every event can use a taste of Homer!  Call the ballpark today and I'll put a smile on everyone's face!"

To find out more about how to schedule Homer for an appearance, contact Alicia in the Saltdogs office at (402) 474-BALL, or reach her online at aliciao@saltdogs.com

Like everyone else, Homer is really good at some things...and not so good at some others:

STRENGTHS: Dancing, high fives, hitting home runs, catching fly balls, keeping the other team on its toes!

WEAKNESSES: Sleeping in way too late, keeping his shoes tied, staying on a diet...and boy, does he hate wearing a leash and collar.

Homer's Question of the Month comes from August Pope, who writes, "Dear Homer: What is your favorite thing to do at the ballgame? Watching the players practice? Watching the game? Or maybe eating cotton candy, pizza or ice cream?"

Homer says: "Thanks for the question, August! My favorite thing is having funs in the stands with you and all the fans. I love dancing on top of the dugout, getting high-fives from people, and just making sure everyone’s having fun. What a great question! Here's a picture of August down on the field at Haymarket Park!"

August made it as Homer's "E-mail Friend of the Month," now it's your turn! Just send Homer an e-mail, at homer@saltdogs.com. If Homer picks your e-mail, he'll post your question and his answer right here!  Make sure you send him your picture, so Homer can put it up!

Homer says: "Kids, I want to hear from you!  It's lonely at Haymarket Park during the offseason, but reading your e-mails will keep me happy until I see you at the next Saltdogs game! Remember, it's homer@saltdogs.com!"

Every now and then, Homer likes to take batting practice. Every baseball player needs to practice so they keep getting better--and that's especially true if you have a name like Homer!
 AboutHomer.jpg
We wanted to learn more about Homer, so we just asked him...

QUESTION: The kids say you're pretty big; just how tall are you?

HOMER:  I'm 6 feet, 3 inches tall...but if you make my ears fly up, I'm a lot taller.

Q:  So how much do you weigh?

HOMER:  After how many hot dogs?

Q:  Tell us about your family.

HOMER:  We all love baseball.  Grandpa Mays and my dad, D Maggio, taught me everything I know!  Mac and Babe are my brother and sister, and I love 'em even though they pick on me sometimes.  I wouldn't be anything, though, without my mom, Monroe.  Love ya, Mom!

Q:  How did you get the name Homer?

HOMER:  Have you ever seen me swing the bat?  Pitchers don't have a chance!

Q:  Do you have any heroes?

HOMER:  Clifford was always one, since he's a big dog like me (but he's a lot bigger), and everyone likes Lassie, too.  For me, though, Snoopy's the best.  No other dog plays baseball like he does!

Q:  What do you like about being the Haymarket Hound, at Haymarket Park?

HOMER:  I love the music they play!  I can't help it, I love to dance--and I'm pretty good at it, don't you think?  If you have some music to play right now, I'll show you!

Q:  Last question.  What's the best part of a Saltdogs game?

HOMER:  That's easy.  I love hanging out and having fun with the fans, especially the kids.  They make Haymarket Park the best place to be--and it's even better when the Saltdogs win!
