The Lincoln Saltdogs came roaring back from an early deficit on Friday, beating the Sioux Falls Canaries 10-5 at Sioux Falls Stadium.  Lincoln improves to 6-8 on the season.

Sioux Falls led 5-2 after four innings, but Steve Alexander hit a solo home run in the fifth—the first of his two homers—to start the comeback.  Lincoln tied the game in the sixth on RBI singles by Albenis Machado and Josh Burrus, before taking the lead on Lee Rubin’s sacrifice fly in the seventh.  The Dogs broke the game open in the eighth; Machado and Phil Hawke each drove in insurance runs before Alexander’s second homer, a two-run blast to deep left-center.

Lincoln took the first lead of the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Sioux Falls answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.  The Canaries added another fun in the second, and increased their lead to 5-2 on Trevor Lawhorn’s solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Jim Paduch (2-1) battled through 6.1 innings to earn the win, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits.  Daryl Arreola came on with two out and a runner on third in the seventh with Lincoln leading 6-5, and retired all seven batters he faced to earn his first save.  Angelo Morales (0-1) took the loss for Sioux Falls, allowing the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.

At the plate, Alexander finished 3-for-5 with his two homers and three RBI.  Albenis Machado and Josh Burrus also went 3-for-5, with Machado adding a pair of RBI.  Hawke and Shea McFeely had two hits apiece for the Saltdogs as well.

The two teams meet again on Saturday night at 7:05pm.  Jarrett Gardner will make the start for Lincoln, looking to tie the team record for all-time wins in a career.
