The Lincoln Saltdogs suffered a heartbreaking loss on Sunday afternoon, losing 10-6 at St. Paul.  Lincoln drops to 47-43 on the season, 18-24 in the second half.

The Saltdogs led 6-4 going to the bottom of the eighth inning, but Lincoln reliever Adam Daniels (6-5) could not find the plate, walking the first four batters he faced to bring in a run.  Daniels did strike out the next man, but a Josh Alley RBI single tied the game at six.  Daniels was lifted for Nolan Chestnut, who gave up a two-run single, and a third run scored on the play when a throw to third got away.  One more single capped a six-run inning for the Saints, and the Saltdogs were unable to respond in the ninth.

Earlier in the game, it had looked like it would be the Saltdogs who would end up with a comeback win.  Trailing 4-2 entering the top of the seventh, Pat Trettel led off for Lincoln with a solo home run, his ninth of the season.  The ’Dogs then loaded the bases with one out, and Juan Camacho hit a two-run single to give Lincoln its first lead of the day.  One out later, Brandon Jones hit an RBI double to cap a four-run frame.

St. Paul started the game by scoring single runs in the first and second inning, and then twice in the fourth for a 4-0 lead, aided in part by four early walks.  The Saltdogs began their comeback in the fifth inning, getting RBI hits from Rafael Alvarez and Juan Richardson to make it 4-2.

Camacho ended the afternoon 3-for-5 with two RBI, and went 7-for-10 over the final two games of the series.  Jones, Trettel, Gavin Dickey and Argelis Nunez each had two hits in the game for Lincoln.

Lincoln now heads to Sioux Falls for a three-game series that begins Monday night at 7:05.  Right-hander Chris Cullen is scheduled to take the mound for the Saltdogs.
