Biography:
Thompson came to Lincoln in a trade with El Paso on June 19, and by the end of the season, he had established himself as one of the elite closers in Saltdogs history. Chris saved 20 games in 22 tries, falling just two saves short of the team’s single-season record. He had ten saves in El Paso before the trade, so he tied the American Association single-season record with 30 saves altogether. Thompson came out of the University of Mississippi in 2004 as a 21st-round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He spent two seasons in the D-backs organization, briefly reaching Class AAA Tucson, and then found himself in the Washington Nationals organization in 2006, where he appeared in Class A, AA and AAA. Chris moved to the independent ranks in 2007, spending a season in Pensacola before moving on to El Paso in 2008. |
